Associations would do well to develop and implement a clear social media strategy which makes use of tools their members are using, according to event pros who joined the May 21 #eventtable chat.
The group discussed many of the issues that are keeping associations from making the most of social media tools, such as: a lack of urgency, one way marketing and executive insistence on controlling communication. Many in the group seemed to agree that the time commitment involved in implementing an effective social media strategy, often warrants hiring a social media expert.
