Since its beginning, nearly three decades ago, The Conference Publishers has been all about content. Focused on the valuable information produced by conferences and meetings, the company pioneered the art of content capture at events, creating summaries, newsletters, news briefs, white papers, and more out of live presentations.
As social media began to emerge as a powerful way to reach audiences jaded by a daily barrage of spam and broadcast marketing messages, the company added staff and embraced the new tools, welcoming the focus on quality content as a means of drawing attention and traffic to association and business websites.
New Forms, Same Focus on Content
The company soon found itself perfectly poised to serve clients who were eager to adopt marketing’s new focus on information.
As a result, in 2013 The Conference Publishers is broadening its scope of services to include a wider variety of content, strategies and tools. And we’re adopting a new name that highlights the transition some marketers are now making from mindless broadcasting to useful content: Smarter Shift.
The Conference Publishers/Smarter Shift President Mitchell Beer notes that the firm has captured content at more than 3,000 events, in more than 200 communities across North America, and in a total of 18 countries. From that starting point, Smarter Shift “emphasizes a broader, more strategic approach to content generation, production, repurposing, and management—whether the source material originates at a conference, in an organization’s wider content archive, or with external sources.”
“With this longer‑term, more integrated approach to content, we aim to support the year-round dialogue that connects organizations with their customers, affinity members, partners, sponsors, and stakeholders, beyond the few days they may spend onsite each year.”
A NEW Twitter Discussion About Content: #ContentChat
We’ve made many online friends who are as excited as we are about creating and sharing quality content for marketing purposes. So we thought, why not create a place where we can pick some of the top brains in content marketing, share what we know, and provide a resource for folks who are just getting started?
That’s how we decided to launch #ContentChat, a weekly Twitter chat that will take place each Monday at 3 PM Eastern (the same time as our previous chat, #eventtable) beginning Monday, January 7, 2013. It will feature a broad scope of topics related to content marketing, from blogging, to social media, to content repurposing, to events and more.
We hope you’ll join us on Twitter and on our new website, Smarter Shift, to help make this the year you empower your business with the valuable tools content marketing has to offer.
